Policies
As a celebrant and master of ceremonies I like to be as transparent as possible when it comes to policies. That way we can focus way more on the things that matter, like your big day! See below some fine print so you know there will be no surprises when it comes to the business end of things.
Deposit & Payment -
A non-refundable $200.00 deposit will be required shortly after booking in order to lock in your date. You will receive an invoice via email with payment instructions and remaining balance due.
Full payment will be due via bank transfer no later than 25 days prior to date of service.
All rates listed are inclusive of GST.
Travel -
All packages include round trip travel up to a certain amount of kms from my home in Turrella, NSW.
Celebrant Package: 110 km
Master of Ceremonies Package: 110 km
Celebrant & MC Package: 110 km
Simple & Clean Package: 80 km
Distance exceeding this travel inclusion will be added to the final rate at $0.70/km.
Any further requirements to perform the service for your package will be added at the cost of the client unless otherwise agreed upon. This includes accommodation, airfare, trains & ferries.
Parking -
Brian will endeavour to take care of parking within reason. This includes researching and finding adequate street parking or affordable parking nearby.
However, if parking in a garage or at the venue is required to perform the services being provided these fees will be passed on to the client(s).
Cancellations -
Cancellation by Client(s)
Cancellation earlier than 25 days before the ceremony date will result in a full refund of fees minus the initial deposit.
Cancellation later than 25 days before the ceremony date will result in no refund. Full payment will still be due.
This does include an element of discretion based on individual cases and scenarios.
Cancellation by Brian
In the event of cancellation by me, Brian Sobel, a full refund (including Booking Fee) will be provided to client(s).
Reasons for cancellation would only be due to:
Medical or Family Emergency
If desired, I will assist in finding a replacement celebrant and transfer any/all details including legal documents.
Emergencies -
In the event of an emergency or accident preventing me from being present on the day, and/or making me unreachable by phone/text/email, a backup plan will be discussed at one of our planning meetings. I will provide an emergency packet that includes:
Copy of ceremony script without the legal words/proceedings. This script is considered a “commitment ceremony” version which can be read by any nominated party. For example, a close friend or family member can perform the commitment ceremony script.
This unfortunately means that you will not be legally married after the ceremony is finished. However it does provide all of the same vibe/energy/story of a normal wedding ceremony. You may even share the rings, kiss and pronounce your commitment to each other.
Remember, this will only be in the case of an emergency that literally incapacitates me from being at the ceremony (car accident, etc.).
Sound System -
The sound system I use is a Bose S1 Pro Speaker and a Shure SM58 digital microphone. This is included in all packages usable for speaking during the ceremony and any music.
Solemnisation of the Marriage -
It will be within my discretion on the day of the ceremony whether or not to solemnise the marriage if any parties to the marriage are deemed to be overly intoxicated. Parties being able to consent to the marriage is a requirement by the Marriage Act of 1961.
Parties to the marriage are defined as -
Party 1 to the marriage.
Party 2 to the marriage.
Official witness to the marriage.
Official interpreter (if required) for the marriage.
